Village farmer's market to premiere June 2 by Elizabeth Taufa Reporter
Wednesday, May 30 2007The market, which is being held in cooperation with the Williamsville Business and Professional Association, will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at the Williamsville Water Mill, 56 E. Spring St., and is being sponsored by the Glen Park Tavern and Dave Smith Ford.
According to Ellie Grenauer and Lynn Schwab, farmer's market coordinators, the market will have 11 consistent vendors throughout the summer and will have a variety of products, including homemade pasta, honey, fresh herbs, fruit and vegetables, flowers, cheese, wine and baked goods.
"I think we forget where food comes from, so the market is good to remind adults and educate children that food doesn't just come from the grocery store," Grenauer said.
Area restaurants, including the Glen Park Tavern and The King and I, will be doing cooking demonstrations throughout the summer using the market's fresh products. Recipes from these demonstrations will be available.
Entertainment and music will also be provided during various weeks of the summer.

The Women of Williamsville hosts fashion show for Gow School by Jill Schmelzer Reporter
Wednesday, Mar 21 2007The Women of Williamsville, which was formed by eight business professionals, decided to support The Gow School by instituting an endowment.
To raise the funds, they will host "Fashion at the Glen III" from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 25 at The Glen Park Tavern, 5507 Main St., Williamsville.
Once established, the scholarship will be in honor of Jim Grenauer, owner of The Glen Park Tavern.
Grenauer, although he is an intelligent man, struggled through much of his life because he suffers from dyslexia, explained his daughter, Ellie, one of the co-founders of The Women of Williamsville.
"It's really awesome to start a scholarship in my dad's name," Ellie said. "It was difficult for him to face dyslexia. He has high intellect, but it's difficult for him to read."
Those with the disability have difficulty articulating what words on a page mean, Gayle Hutton, director of The Gow School, explained.
"They may be able to read, but they may have difficulty retaining it or understanding what's on the page," she said.
The Gow School is the nation's oldest boarding school for boys with dyslexia. It was established in 1926 and is located on Emery Road in South Wales, N.Y.
The Jim Grenauer Scholarship Fund will be awarded to one student each year.
The fashion show will be presented by Excuria Salon and Spa, Karma Knitting & Clothing, Fofa Brazil Jeans, Lotions and Potions, The Glen Park Tavern, Tricia's Shoes and Ad Impressions.

New Years Day 2007 Photos by Garry Soehner and Eileen Pyrak

Plenty of heart & fun at the non-race "Resolution Run" in Williamsville 110 runners "braved" a balmy 48 degree day. Thanks to all who organized and supported: Michele Bauman, John Lintner and others who "got the ball rolling"; the Amherst Police did a great job of providing a safe course with cones and plenty of Officers; John Beishline & Tom Haney - the bullhorn, gun start and even run times added an "official" feel; the management of the Village Glen Tavern for gracious hospitality.
$30 gift cards for first male & female runners (Annie Pyrak first overall); Tim Zelasko for the free t-shirts from the 2006 "Feel The Spirit" run (let's support him this year - and no October surprise).
(Sorry for any omissions.) A fine time was had by all!
The annual pie-baking contest will take place the day of the taste. Bakers are encouraged to bring their own refrigeration system for the pies as the tent does not have any means of keeping the pastries cool and fresh.
Twenty-three village and town restaurants will be featured in the Taste of Williamsville, including the Glen Park Tavern.
